ACARM is proud to co-sponsor the 2019 Records Management Conference on 4-6 November 2019 at PrideInn Beach Resort Mombasa, Kenya, along with the Kenya Association of Records Managers and Archivists (KARMA) and the Kenya National Archives and Documentation Service (KNADS) and the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM).
The conference has adopted the theme of records management and sustainable development, with the goal of reflecting on the role of records and archives management in driving sustainable development in Kenya. The conference will bring together professionals in the records and archives management field as well as stakeholders from public and private sectors to engage and build collaborative conversations on how to embed records management within the fabric of sustainable development, in all dimensions of the economy.
Goals for sustainable development, whether national or international, rest on the assumption that trustworthy information will be available, can be shared meaningfully and can be used effectively in strategies for development as evidence of transactions, decisions, policies, actions, precedents, expenditure and even rights. Unfortunately, it is often the case that records are incomplete, inaccurate, inaccessible or even lost completely. This impairs the efficiency with which development initiatives and activities are executed.
The conference will afford stakeholders an opportunity to reflect and engage in what practical steps need to be harnessed to rightfully position records and archives management at the heart of sustainable development strategies.
The sub-themes for the conference shall include:
- RM capabilities in public and private sectors.
- Digital disruptions in records management.
- Records management and delivery of justice.
- Aligning records and archives management and business processes.
Further details on the conference are available at www.karma.co.ke/2019_conference . Registration fee for the conference shall be KES. 30,000.00 (KARMA members), KES. 40,000.00 (non-KARMA members) and USD 500 for foreign participants. The costs do not include transport, accommodation and value-added tax.
