Membership Benefits
ACARM members receive a newsletter three times a year, containing information about archival activities from around the Commonwealth as well as research articles, current research papers, announcements of upcoming events, and other news. Members also receive priority access to and discounts on registration for ACARM training sessions and other workshops, access to the member-only space on the ACARM website, opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other archival professionals across the Commonwealth, and access to ACARM’s website to share news and promote regional or local Commonwealth-related events.
Membership Categories
ACARM has more than 150 members and associate members in more than 50 countries and territories of the Commonwealth and world wide. ACARM has four membership categories: institutional, individual, associate, and honorary:
Institutional membership
National, sub-national or non-government institutions or repositories, or other specialised repositories in Commonwealth countries, and also national or sub-national associations of archivists and records managers are eligible for institutional membership. Voting rights at general meetings of the Association shall be limited to one vote for each institutional member. Votes may be cast in person, by proxy or by post.
Individual membership
Practising archivists or records managers or any other interested persons are eligible for individual membership. Voting rights at general meetings shall be one vote for each individual member. Votes may be cast in person, by proxy or by post.
Associate membership
Individuals who are students, retired professionals and non-professionals/interested persons are eligible for associate membership. Their subscription rates shall be half those of individual membership rates. Associate members have the right to speak at meetings of the Association but do not have voting rights.
Honorary membership.
The Executive Committee shall have power to nominate Honorary Members of the Association. Nominations should be restricted to people who have made a significant contribution to the Association and to its aims. Nominations shall be voted upon at Annual General Meetings. Honorary members have the right to speak at meetings of the Association but do not have voting rights.
Membership Subscription Rates
There is a three-band subscription scale, related to International Council on Archives (ICA) subscription rates. A fourth category allows for individual members (only) to pay for four years.
Payments can be made via PayPal (via the links below) or by cheque, bank draft or international money order to “Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers”. A receipt will be supplied upon request.
